10 Games That Will Turn your Linux into a WarMachine

Games, one of my favorite time pass. I’m always out for nifty gaming sessions when I’m bored, posted lots of stuff on it in the past and still going to. Loads of my friends use linux and “some” complain that there aren’t much games for the OS out there.. well they are wrong, I’ve posted aboutLinux games in the past and going to write / update more on it in this post. Stuff I’ve missed out in the past and games which were released earlier.

1- Savage 2 - A Tortured Soul

Savage 2 - A Tortured Soul

Do you love WoW (World of Warcraft)? - ever wondered if there’s going to be a game like that, specially on Linux? Check out Savage 2 - A Tortured Soul. This game will rock your gaming senses. Perfect graphics, fantastic playability, a RTS combined with FPS gameplay, what else do we need more? - The objective of the game is quite simple: Each side has a main base, your job is to destroy the other team’s main base at all costs. I would recommend this review of Savage 2if you’re looking for full depth analysis.

2- Warzone 2100 Resurrection

Warzone 2100 Resurrection

A RTS (Real time Strategy) game created by Pumpkin Studios & published by Eidos Interactive where you command the forces of “The Project” in a battle to rebuild the world after mankind has almost been destroyed by nuclear missiles. The game offers over 400 different technologies, different play modes & loads of units / buildings to keep you going.

3- Alien Arena

Alien Arena

Love FPS? (First person shooters), Alien Arena is for you. The developers tried to match the graphics/engine with popular games like Quake3 and Unreal Tournament & threw in stuff of their own. Featuring team based modes, death matches, CTF (Capture the flag), death ball, all out assault mode, duel mode, this freeware basically rocks!

4- Nexuiz

Nexuiz

Nexuiz is another awesome FPS which has been around for over 4 years. A 3d deathmatch game, built on OpenGL technology, created on Quake engine, available for all platforms includingLinux. It features the most excessive possible speeds and weapons, giving incredibly intense fast paced action.

5- World of Padman

World of Padman

World of Padman (WoP) is an open source first-person shooter computer game available in both English and German. Originally it was a modification for the game Quake III Arena titled PadMod created in the year 2004. A gorgeous game which gives you a feeling like you’re in an animated 3d movie, while playing. Custom maps coming in often, ability to play with bots and much more. You got to try this one. Also available on Windows, Mac.

6- Warsow

Warsow

Warsow, something I missed in my previous showcase of linux games and I regret it. It’s, no doubt, a fast based FPS (First person shooter) game which can take hours of your time. It’s based on the Qfusion 3D engine (a modification of the Quake 2 GPL engine), gameplay is focussed around the art of movement, meaning moving, speed and tricks play a big part in the gameplay.Warsow’s weapon system is also a bit unique, you are equipped with weak and strong ammo. Strong ammo requires an ammo pack and of course does more damage. Also, Weapons may have different damage or slightly different behaviour depending on what ammo you use. Playabilty and graphic wise, it’s a job well done. Check it out, free for windows / Linux.

7- Urbon Terror

Urbon Terror

Urbon terror is a 100% free, realism based game for linux. It’s totally based on Quake3 (like most of the FPS out there), runs on a stand-alone, ioquake3 modified engine. The interface is very well designed and makes it simple to both get into and manage your setup and in-game actions. It offers different gameplay modes like Free-For-All, Team Deathmatch, Team Survivor, Capture The Flag, Capture & Hold, as well as Follow the Leader, which involves having a player that is designated as the leader and a scoring system based around keeping your leader alive.

8- FreeDroid

FreeDroid

FreeDroid is a Diablo look alike. May be not the same but it has that RPG (role playing game) element. It comes with refined graphics, music tracks and features a complete real time combat system with melee and ranged weapons, fairly similar to the proprietary game Diablo. It also gives you the ability to use as much as 20 spells, magic, over 50 items and endless fights with countless enemies on your way to your destiny.

9- Teeworlds

Teeworlds

Teeworlds is a fast-paced 2d sidescrolling, free online multiplayer shooter game. Graphics are based on cartoons and relies heavily on classic shooter weaponry and gameplay. In the game, you roleplay a Tee, a cute ball who carries around various weaponry and a hook, allowing some Spiderman like movement. You can Battle with up to 16 players in a variety of game modes, including Team Deathmatch and Capture The Flag and the best thing about this one is that it’s open source and runs on all major operating systems.

10- Extreme Tux Racer

Extreme Tux Racer

Extreme Tux Racer (ETRacer for short) is a downhill racing game (free & open source) featuring Tux, the Linux Penguin. Steeping down the snow covered mountains, winning courses (leading to new ones), with loads of gameplay options, it’s a must try for racing fans who wanna have some fun =).

That’s it for now, if you think I missed anything (which I’m hoping I haven’t) - check out my previous post on Linux Games, if it’s still not there, do mention it here so everyone else can give your favorite game a try. Till then, happy fragging.

A little off topic, Guys... I have a question. Yesterday I found this site:
Rivalspot.com - Ps3 Live Tournaments
They say you can play online Fight Night game tournaments on any console for cash... had anyone tried that before? Looks like a cool idea...
Are there any other sites where you can play sports games for real moneys? I Googled and found only Bringit.com and Worldgaming.com but it looks these guys don't specialize in sport gamez. Any suggestions?

Howdy folks! I run a budget tattoo salon in New York. Previously I bought all tattoo stuff at wholesale prices but my supplier got jailed (believe it or not) so I'm in search of a reliable tattoo equipment company (better online one) to buy tattoo stuff from. Here is an example of what I am interested in: Tattoo Equipment. Thanks in advance for any information folks! PM me or send me an email: triple6tattoo@hotmail.com
