First things First... Power Off the Slide

How-TO Root the Slide

First!! - Go to Settings > Application > Development and turn on USB Debugging. This should save you headaches.

NOW… Power Off the Slide

Download This Package > Slide Root.zip



Step 1.
Place the Contents of "Slide Root.zip" into your Android SDK Tools folder.

Step 2.
Open Command Prompt or Terminal and CD to the SDK/Tools Directory.

Step 3.
Power on the Slide into the bootloader by Holding Down ( Volume Down + Power Button )

Step 4.
Now run your loop file from the prompt (either type "loop" in windows or "./loop.sh" in a *nix like)

Step 5.
Once your loop is running in your prompt, select Recovery from the bootloader menu.

Step 6.
When recovery loads, you should Have an Offline Device. You can use ctrl+c to stop your script & see.
If this doesn't happen, Power Off and try again..

Step 7.
Un-plug your USB cable from the back of your phone & Plug it back in for it to Detect ADB Correctly!!! This is an important step. At this point you can adb devices to see if you can see your device and that it is in recovery mode.

Step 8.
Select Update.zip from the menu. (This will fail, but we already know that! Select it anyway).

Step 9.
adb push ota.zip /sdcard/update.zip (*nixlike users add a ./ in front of all terminal commands please.)

Step 11.
adb push slideroot.zip /sdcard

Step 12.
This is Very important!! Have this Command ready in your prompt before applying update.zip again!!

adb push update.zip /sdcard

step 13.
Hit run update.zip, as soon as you see a Little Bar appear under the text push Enter to execute the command in your prompt (adb push update.zip /sdcard )

Step 14.
In successful, you should see Clockwork Recovery. If unsuccessful, repeat steps 12 & 13.

Step 15.
Now, go to the Partitions menu and Mount System

step 16.
Go back one level & select install any zip from sdcard. Select slideroot.zip & apply update from zip (This will finish the Root process).

Step 17.
Reboot your phone & wait for it to load completely. To confirm that your slide is connected as a device use the command adb devices. If this works, you will see it as a device. Your prompt will say something like:

$ ./adb devices
List of devices attached
HT05YUP12710 device

Step 18.
adb install Superuser.apk (If this looks like it works, but says it cannot locate directories, make sure you can find your device using adb devices… If things still don't work, my best advice is to start over)

Step 19.
After Superuser is installed try to use adb to shell to your device.

adb shell
you will get a $

Then type su

Superuser should pop-up asking if you give permission, do so.
Your $ should turn into a #. If so, you have root.

Congrats.


That's it, you now Have Root... I'll clean this up a bit, But it's the same Root method as the HTC Incredible... I Just added Su & fix the Script, Plus figuring out how-to get it to write to system to Paul O'Brien:

手把手教你用ES删除ROM自带程序！（附图文并茂教程）
只针对CM版或者安卓版
前面发了一篇“手把手用ES上market”, 真没想到还有那么多朋友喜欢，这里就再发一篇怎样删除一些烦人系统自带程序（无法用Astro等软件卸载）。
1 单击运行Estrongs file explorer，再单击手机上的menu， 在弹出的菜单中选择“设置”, 进入设置界面。

2 勾选Root浏览器选项，弹出实验室功能对话框，单击“是”弹出SU请求对话框；先勾选”记住”（这一步最好做，不然要弹出两次确认SU，且有可能出错），再单击允许。
此时会自动弹出警告信息，不用理，即可看到Root浏览器选项被选中。

3 单击手机返回键（手机电源左边白色箭头），进入根目录/ ,
4 在“本地”标签，单击软件屏幕上方的细长条工具栏（写有/），在展开的工具栏上单击mout肖像（带有RW），使其设为可写。

5 进入system/app，删除不想要的后缀名为apk的程序，如Bluetooth.apk
6 进入data/data，，删除com.quicinc.bluetooth 文件夹

7 将usb驱动，adb.exe(见附件)拷贝到你的电脑上某个目录如盘E：

8 连上数据线（初次连接，提示新硬件，把该usb驱动装上，不会的朋友，没关系，我还写了“怎样用数据线访问android手机？”也做了截图说明，和usb驱动，adb.exe打包一并奉上，见附件），单击开始/运行，输入cmd，单击确定，进入Dos命令行，
输入adb，你能看到adb命令信息。

输入adb uninstall com.quicinc.bluetooth，回车，就可以清除系统数据库中残留信息，这样系统的软件管理里面就也没有了。

至此，大功告成！ 以此类推，你可以个性化设置你的系统了！

提示：记得操作完后，在工具栏上单击一下但mount图标（带R），使系统目录成为只读，免得不小心搞坏系统。

另外，第一次用Root，可能感觉有点复杂，后面每次设置Root Explorer时，在第2步就不会弹出图4，5，6 了。

Hero制作金卡、刷机、获取ROOT全搞定

一、制作金卡 1、 下载QMAT qmat_506.zip(1613 K) 下载次数:78 ： 2、 如果的TF卡已经是fat32了就不用格式化了。 3、用文件管理器Astro ASTRO1.4.1.apk (515 K) 下载次数:92 或 者任何其他文件管理器将/sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:**/目录（**可能会因机器不同而不同）下的cid文件拷到sdcard目录下，用记事本打开即可看到cid码。(从手机上拷的的cid文件用记事本或者其他文本编辑工具打开后，注意不要拷贝最后的一个黑框！！只拷贝所有的字母和数字，那个黑框是linux下的换行符！切记！！否则无法成功制作金卡！ ) 4、然后双击qmat.exe，找到qmat菜单栏中的Cyptoanalysis Tools，然后点里面的Crypto Toolbox 5、把你刚才记下来的那串编码（如532600bd227d9c0347329407514d5402）输入"Reverse String” 按钮左边的文本框，然后按下"Reverse String”，得到反编译后的一窜CID编码，如02544d5107943247039c7d22bd002653，同样的把这串CID编码记下来 6、去到这个网站http://revskills.de/pages/goldcard.html，这个网站用来创建一个gold card镜像文件。输入你的email地址，然后输入你刚才反编译后的CID编码（前两位须改为00，有人没改也成功了，为了保险，严重建议把前两位改为00），比如“02544d5107943247039c7d22bd002653”改为“00544d5107943247039c7d22bd002653”， 点击Continue，然后去你的邮箱收邮件，把邮件附件中的goldcard.img保存到本地代用。 7、下载HxD Editor HxDSetupEN.zip(852 K) 下载次数:56 并安装HxD Editor；要开始修改你的SD卡了，所以要把卡再次放进读卡器里面，运行HxD Editor：a、点Extra tab菜单，b、点Open Disk，c、在Physical disk底下，选择Removable Disk，确定这个必须是你的SD card，不要勾选Open as Readonly，d、点OK 8、再次点Extra tab菜单，点Open Disk Image，选择你刚才从邮件中保存下来的goldcard.img，点OK，“Sector Size” 512 (Hard disks/Floppy disks)，点OK 9、点 goldcard.img tab，然后在Edit菜单中点select all，然后再在Edit菜单中点copy（复制） 10、点 removable disk tab 选择 00000000 到 00000170的部分，点Edit菜单点 Paste Write（粘贴），点File菜单，点Save，点OK后退出。 现在点击读卡器里的卡试试，如果这张SD卡还能正常用，说明成功了，如果提示要格式化，就是失败了。 制作金卡有问题的,可以参考这个帖子http://bbs.weiphone.com/read-htm-tid-531033.html 二、刷机 1、下载flashrec-1.1.2-20090909.apk flashrec-1.1.2-20090909.apk(80 K) 下载次数:71 并安装到你的手机上 2、下载刷机包，并把cm-hero-recovery.img文件拷入SD卡中 cm-hero-recovery.img.zip (3620 K) 下载次数:67 3、在手机上打开flash recovery程序 4、在输入框中输入sdcard/cm-hero-recovery.img 5、点击“Flash Custom Recovery Image”按钮，如果文件名字及位置错误是灰色的，先点击下面的按钮（备份固件），然后再点击第一个按钮。 6、关机 7、“HOME”+“开机”键，此时已经进入recovery模式了，可以刷update.zip刷机包了。（或者连接通过USB线和电脑连接，不用关机直接在电脑上运行RUU官方刷机。官方RUU不能正常运行于Win7,请使用vista或XP） 三、获取ROOT 下载刷机包，http://d.namipan.com/sd/1077722 并把Hero文件夹复制到C盘根目录下（为了方便严重建议放入C盘根目录下，其它盘需相应的修改以下命令）。 用USB线把手机和电脑连接，（不用拔USB线），关机后HOME+电源开机，进recovery，在电脑上运行cmd（vista和Win7要以管理员身份运行），输入命令： cd c:\Hero adb shell mount /system adb push su /system/bin/ adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su adb push Superuser.apk /system/app/ adb shell reboot

Workaround for HTC Hero Sync Problem in Windows 7

HTC latest masterpieces, HTC Hero, packs with the most coveted features in the modern mobile world, including powered by Google’s famous Android operating system. However, many user who are running Windows 7 (either 64-bit or the 32-bit version) are having some trouble sync-ing their Hero to their computer, as the driver is not installed properly in Windows 7. This seems to be a common problem. Luckily there is workaround and alternative sync method, by following guide below.

In order to get HTC Hero synchronizes with Windows 7 computer:

1. Download latest specialized sync tool from HTC, namely HTC Sync 2.04 from HTC: HTCsync.zip
2. Install the downloaded program on the computer. At this moment, your computer still unable to recognize the HTC Hero.
3. Manually update the HTC drivers from Windows 7, using the Windows Vista drivers by installing HTC Sync software on a machine running Windows Vista and then copying the drivers (namely androidusb.cat, androidusb.inf, androidusb.sys, htcrndis.cat, htcrndis.inf and WdfCoInstaller01007.dll in HTC Drivers folder) over to the Windows 7 machine.

   Alternatively, download pre-downloaded HTC Hero drivers packaged in ZIP format:

   HTC Hero driver for 32-bit Windows 7: HTC_Driver_32.zip
   HTC Hero driver for 64-bit Windows 7: HTC_Driver_64.zip

4. Extract the driver into a folder. For example, %SystemDrive%:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x64 (for the Windows 7 64-bit) or %SystemDrive%:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x86 (for the Windows 7 32-bit) accordingly.
5. Go to Devices

   4) Update the driver (accessible from Properties -> Hardware tab) for incorrectly installed Android Phone from the Devices and Printers menu in Windows’ Start Menu, by selecting the copied driver location. If no ADB driver been installed yet, just install the driver directly by right click on the .INF file and select Install.

6. The HTC Hero phone should now displayed as “My HTC”, and will be able to sync with Windows 7.
